Beautiful hike with wonderful views of the Bohemian Forest adventure region!
Parking lot: Moldaustraße 2, Aigen im Mühlkreis fire station1.8 km Michaelsquelle. There is a Kneipp basin below. This treading massage pool is used for natural foot reflexology. 2.8 km Berghäusln. The Mühltalblickweg branches off here. Continue along trail no. 40, leaving the Adalbert Stifter Herberge above you and following a beautiful forest path to
4.5 km Oberhaag (836 m). Schwedenschanze - fortification, probably built in 1469. It was intended to protect against invasions by soldiers from Bohemia and Swedish troops. Above the Landhotel Haagerhof, turn right towards Bayrische Au, follow a short section of field path which leads into a forest road and then into a forest path.
7.0 km approx. three quarters of an hour to the Iglbach double bridge. The alluvial canal has been restored to its original form at this point. Schauschwemmen take place here during the summer months. You can find out the dates at www.boehmerwald.at. Follow the alluvial canal for a short distance and then turn right onto the forest path. Now follow the beautiful forest paths towards Bayrische Au. Follow the signs and the red-white-red markings until you reach the
10.8 km Bayrische Au nature trail (720 m). The Bayrische Au is one of the oldest Šumava raised bogs and also the only Spirkenhochmoor in Upper Austria. The Vltava reservoir reaches right up to the border here. A short stretch back along the forest road and on to the
12.6 km asphalt road that leads from Oberhaag to the border. Continue left, after approx. 200 m turn right again onto the forest road and after a short climb you will reach the Schwemmkanal road again. Turn right here and you come to the reconstructed
14.3 km Schrollenbach lock (800 m). Schauschwemmen in the summer months. After approx. 150 m you leave the canal. Turn left onto the forest road, which climbs slightly uphill and, after a short section of forest, takes you to the
15.0 km division of the Schwemmkanalrunde and Waldsteig hiking trails . Here you have the option of shortening the Waldsteig and walking along the Schwemmkanalweg to Oberhaag and on to Aigen-Schlägl. Follow trail no. 40 and walk uphill through the beautiful high forest
18.0 km to the Bärenstein (1077 m) with magnificent views of the Vltava reservoir and across the Bohemian Forest. Now it is a leisurely descent to
19.5 km to Grünwald (950 m), a former wood chopping settlement. You walk parallel to Bärensteinrunde no. 41 to the crossroads in the forest. Take the path to the right and reach the
20.3 km Hochbuchet (920 m) - magnificent view. In the documents of Schlägl Abbey, it is reported that large pilgrimages took place here between 1762 and 1775. Continue downhill to the
20.9 km detour Liebesfelsen, which you reach in 5 minutes and which is worthwhile because of the beautiful view to the west. Back again, follow the markings that lead you downhill, crossing several forest roads. Pass the robbers' cave, which is difficult to recognize in the dense bushes, and cross the asphalt road at the
22.4 km Bitterkapelle. A short detour via the Waldsteig footpath (no. 43) is worthwhile because of the magnificent view of Aigen-Schlägl from the Calvary. If you stay on the Waldsteig trail, you will reach the starting point
24.0 km you reach the starting point Aigen-Schlägl.
