Rettenkogel

Demanding mountain tour with partially secured sections and ladder.

Follow the Schöffaubach stream from Gasthof Zur Wacht in Aigen Voglhub to the Schöffaualm mountain pastures.  From here continue on path no. 893 in the direction of Laufenberg.  Go past the Laufenbergalm pastures to the Bergwerkskogel, where secured ropes take you to the summit.  Return 30m from the Bergwerkskogel then take a left over the ridge to the Rettenkogel, where there are more secured rope sections en route to the Rettenkogel summit.  Path no. 891 takes you down, firstly via a ladder then secured ropes to the Bärenköpfen.  Continue on to the fork to the Sonntagskaralm pastures, stay on the path to the Sonntagskaralm, and then follow the course of the stream to the Schöffaualm pastures.  The forest track leads to the Gasthof Zur Wacht.
