This hike requires a fair amount of stamina and endurance, but it rewards you time and again with magnificent views of the lake!
Following the signs for “Rund um den Wachtberg,” the trail continues to the entrance to the Auweg below the Hubertus House. From there, the route leads through the forest to the Bruckbacher.
The trail continues along the official Wachtberg loop trail to the Gupfalm turnoff. A steep boardwalk leads up to the forest road. There, the route continues to the right along the forest road to the Gupfalm. The Gupfalm is privately owned but offers a beautiful view of Lake Attersee.
The route then continues through the forest over the Gupf ( 948 m ) and down to the forest road. It continues on to Praterstern / Krahbergsattel. From here, the route follows the Josefweg and the signs toward Alexenau.
Finally, the trail leads back to the starting point via the Dr.-Gleißner-Weg. Along the way, you’ll be treated to magnificent views of Lake Attersee time and again.

Elevation gain: approx. 830 m
Walking time: approx. 6.5 to 7.5 hours, depending on fitness level
