This challenging mountain tour leads over steep terrain and serpentines, but offers a great panoramic view.

Starting at the Forest Service office, the trail first leads through the forest and then up a short iron ladder to the Steinbachblick viewpoint. This is followed by a steep ascent along the Brennerriesensteig trail to the Höllengebirge. This route is recommended only for experienced hikers.

The summit cross is located at an elevation of 1,602 m and offers an impressive view. After a rest, the trail continues along steep switchbacks to the Dachsteinblick, from where the Dachstein can be seen on a clear day.

Afterward, you have the option of taking a scenic ridge hike along the Mahdlschneid down to the Schoberstein and on to Weißenbach. Alternatively, the route winds gently up and down toward the Hochleckenhaus to the mountain rescue hut.
