Nixenfall (waterfall)

This beautiful, easy family hike with several interacitve stations leads us to a waterfall which, according to legend, houses a mermaid.

This trail is one of seven adventure hiking trails of the Adventure Hiking Pass “AbenteuerWanderPass”. Children can collect stamps on the paths and redeem small gifts for them in the information offices of the Attersee-Attergau holiday region. This means that even more children will love hiking.

The starting point of this family hike is the parking lot on the avenue in the village of Weißenbach am Attersee. We follow the artists' trail toward Weißenbachtal up to the main road. After about 100 m we cross the Fachbergbrücke to the right. There we orient ourselves on the Eibenberg trail along the Weißenbach stream in the south. After a few meters we turn right and walk in the shade of the trees to the mermaid case.
Kids can discover many goblins and several interacitve stations, balance over tree trunks and play at a water wheel.
This route is well signposted and (except for the last section) also suitable for baby carriages. After a while, we finally reach the imposing, about 50 m high waterfall, where a blackboard informs us about the legend of the mermaid at Lake Attersee and a marmaid figure awaits us.
After a break, we use the same way back to our starting point.
