Baron Eugen von Ransonnet-Villez (born 1837 in Vienna) was an important diplomat as well as an artist, explorer and adventurer. The theme trail in Nußdorf am Attersee was named after him, because he not only had today's Grafengut villa built there and planted rare trees and plants that he brought back from his travels, but also founded the "Union-Yacht-Club Attersee" in 1886, the oldest yacht club in Austria, as well as the beautification association in Nußdorf.
This themed trail remembers the life and achievements that Mr. Eugen von Ransonnet-Villez left us.
Unique to this day are his underwater lithographs. Ransonnet was the first summer guest in Nußdorf and left significant traces here. Among other things, he created the Verschönerungsverein Nußdorf and brought tourism to the region.
The theme trail has been signposted with seven plaques that provide information about Ransonnets life and work in order to remind us of him. The best thing to do is to set out in good weather and learn about the history of Mr. Eugene of Ransonnet-Villez and combine this with a nice walk in nature and right next to the water.
From the music pavilion, follow the yellow signs "Ransonnet Theme Trail" and walk along the village road past the Gruber campsite. At the next fork in the road, keep going in the direction of Seminarhotel Grafengut (popularly known as the Ransonnet Villa). Along the shore of the lake we continue to the landing stage and along the narrow path along the brook back to Nußdorf. From the Bachgasse we turn into the Kirchengasserl, pass the church and come back to the music pavilion. Of course, you can also walk the leisurely round in the opposite direction and from the bandstand take the narrow path next to the brook to the lakeside resort of Nußdorf and from there walk along the lakeshore in the direction of Grafengut.
Numerous gastronomy stops are offered in the village of Nußdorf and on the lakeshore:
