Reinthaler Moos - nature reserve since 1990
Thanks to its large area, a unique spring tufa with swamp forest has formed in the Reinthaler Moos directly west of the village of Attersee am Attersee. Adjacent to this is a black alder forest and a near-natural red beech forest. The overgrown boggy area (Ried) is free of trees and is home to several springs, with rock-hard moss mounds growing out between them. It provides a habitat for unique plants. In 1990, an area of 12 ha was designated as a nature reserve by decree of the province of Upper Austria.
