Hike to the Schafberg mountain via Oberburgau
You don't have to be in St. Wolfgang to get to the top of the Schafberg. The Schafberg can also be climbed from Unterach.Start in Oberburgau at Gasthaus See, turn right and pass the bridge to Oberburgau. Turn left uphill at the houses. After around 30 minutes, cross the forest road and follow the path to the Eisenaueralm. This is located at an altitude of around 1000 metres. The catered Buchberg hut is on the right. Behind the hut, a path on the right leads up to the forest.
After around 45 minutes, you will finally reach the saddle at the picturesque Suissensee lake. Keep left there and hike along the Purtschellersteig trail to the Schafberg lakes. Now it's not far to the Schafberg summit. Here, at an altitude of 1782 metres, you can now enjoy a magnificent view of Lake Attersee and fortify yourself for the descent at the Himmelspforthütte.
