Here's how to get to Almsee in Grünau im Almtal in the Salzkammergut:

By train: Take the Almtalbahn (Line 153) from the Wels train station to Grünau im Almtal;
There are numerous connections at Wels Station to mainline trains on the Westbahn line (Line 101) heading toward Linz/Vienna or Salzburg/Munich, as well as to Passau/Nuremberg.
From the Grünau train station, there are connections via the OÖVV bus or the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service to Almsee. Of course, you can also enjoy a leisurely walk along the Almuferweg trail by the Alm River.

By bike:
Follow the R11 Almtal Bike Trail from Wels into the Almtal valley to Almsee
Tip: Part of the bike path runs along the Almsee state road—in between, you can also take the MTB trail for a few kilometers, which starts just before the wildlife park and leads to the Almbrücke bridge in front of the Jagersimmerl/Heztau.

On foot: From the town center or the Grünau im Almtal train station, you can take a leisurely hike along the Almuferweg“Genuss am Almfluss” trail via the Cumberland Wildlife Park to Almsee!
By car:
A1 West Highway: Vienna – Voralpenkreuz-A9 – Ried/Tr. exit – Voitsdorf – Pettenbach – take the B120 to Scharnstein – take the Almseelandesstraße to Grünau im Almtal

The two parking lots at the northern and southern ends of the lake are subject to a fee: The parking fee for a passenger car is EUR 5 per day. For hikers who park for several days, the fee is EUR 15 for up to 7 days. Camping is prohibited! Daily tickets for buses: €20
