A borderline experience Granite, gravel, natural trails. The hard granite surface allows even the most experienced bikers to experience unexpected limits. Physically, but also geographically - because the route stretches across three countries. Its history as the last region before the Iron Curtain has also paved the way for its own mentality, which is described as adventurous, mysterious and quiet - perfect for a great cycling adventure.

Endurance finally pleasant. Here, regeneration begins as soon as you start pedalling. Because you cycle between 700 and 1,000 metres above sea level, in the middle of one of the best air zones in Austria. There is always a light breeze and it is pleasantly cool even in summer. The oxygen content is high, your concentration is high and your head is clear. Anyone who rides here quickly realises why some of the toughest endurance athletes come from this region.

The Mühlviertel was once situated on the Iron Curtain - today it is open, well developed and perfectly located in the border triangle. And yet it still feels a little isolated. This, as the locals say, "entrische" silence and uniqueness, almost mysterious, but always full of adventure - it has remained. The best way to discover it here is by bike, as the many tarmac and virtually untrodden side roads are a particular trademark.
