Just a few minutes after the start, you leave the medieval brewing town and set course for Grünbach. The route deliberately opens with space rather than hardness: quiet side roads, gentle undulations and a clear rhythm. Ideal for finding your stride and building up the flow for the coming kilometers.

The tour quickly opens up via Grünbach and Schöneben. The plateaus become more open, the forests denser, the traffic noticeably less. Towards Liebenau, the quiet grandeur that characterizes this section becomes apparent early on: long lines of sight, remote roads and a natural environment that does not want to impress loudly, but works through peace, space and concentration.

The section through the European nature reserve and around the Tanner Moor takes you deep into one of the most pristine landscapes in the region. Past the Rubener pond, the riding experience changes noticeably: less urban, less open, but more archaic, reduced and intense. The climbs are constantly challenging, but never technically complicated - a ride that works through rhythm and presence.

The route continues south via Geierschlag and Haid. The altitude meters add up, but remain rideable. The final approach to Königswiesen feels like a deliberate transition from ride to regeneration.

Return journey - Goldwiesen, panorama and flow
From Königswiesen, you continue the loop via Harlingsedt and Unterweißenbach. The character deliberately changes: after the quiet, natural first half, the landscape becomes wider, brighter and more open. The route remains quiet, but gains in panoramic views and classic Mühlviertel flow.

Via Kaltenberg and on towards St. Leonhard near Freistadt, the tour starts to work noticeably. The climbs become longer, but remain evenly rideable. This is where the route reveals its special quality: flowing climbs, technically easy descents and smooth connecting sections intertwine harmoniously and ensure a constant rhythm.

St. Leonhard bei Freistadt and St. Oswald bei Freistadt form a central section of the route. The big stage opens up around the Haiderberg: wide lines of sight, open ridges and a landscape that combines tranquillity with sporting clarity. No hectic terrain - just clean, high-level flow.

Via Lasberg, you pass the outskirts of Freistadt before rolling back into the city past the Haugenödtberg. The destination is Freigold again - straight into regeneration, culinary delights and quality experiences.
