With an open heart and a spirit of adventure, a refreshing and invigorating experience awaits: the Wolfsschlucht, where mystical rocks and the gentle murmur of the stream appeal to the senses in a very special way. The many steps and the Herzogsquelle spring let you feel the power of nature in a striking way and invite you to let yourself be enchanted by the magic of this place.
The trail continues through the forest, where the Kneipp path awaits with its refreshing water features. Here, where nature whispers its stories, it’s time to take off your shoes and wade through the water. As the cool water laps at your feet, you’ll experience its invigorating effect and a heightened sense of well-being. Refreshed and revitalized, you’ll then continue on to the forest meditation spot. Here, a moment of peace and reflection awaits before you head up over the Gruber hill and along a farm road to the “Weiserhöhe.” Up here, you’ll feel the joy of reaching the summit and be rewarded with a view over the rolling hills of the idyllic Strudengau region.
After the climb and the joy of reaching the summit, a leisurely lunch break is recommended so you can simply savor the moment. Once rested, the trail continues through the Kneipp garden to the “Maria Hilf” chapel and on along the Anton Bruckner Trail. This section of the trail is dedicated to Bad Kreuzen’s most famous spa guest and the great musical master. Following in his footsteps, you’ll hike to the spring that is said to have inspired him to compose the Kyrie of his famous Mass in F minor. So take a deep breath in and out—here, you breathe in both history and inspiration at the same time. The final section takes you back to Kreuzen Castle via the “Badhäuser”—the starting and ending point of this invigorating hike.
If you’d like to experience a bit of that “summit joy” one last time, cap off the hike with a climb up to the castle tower. On the way up to the observation deck, visitors will find the free exhibition “The Healing Power of Water”—which offers interesting and fascinating insights into the history of the town and the beginnings of the spa tradition. Once at the top, take a moment to reflect on the impressions from the hike and enjoy the power and beauty of nature while taking in the magnificent view over the Danube Valley, the Strudengau, and all the way to the Alps.

A sound garden with a water course, a graduation house with saline air for breathing exercises, a green cloister, the paddling pool with a water stream as well as a barefoot circular path and water playground allow you to relax as you desire. The Naschgarten (snack garden), a large swimming pond as well as the Spiritueller Garten (spiritual garden) and the Osteoporose-Therapiegarten (osteoporosis therapy garden) additionally strengthen the body, mind and soul. The joy is great about the new osteoporosis therapy garden covering 280 sq m! For those affected by osteoporosis, the training for the musculoskeletal system and the effect of UV exposure benefiting bone regeneration with the formation of vitamin D is of great importance.
Above all, the holistic approach of the 5 Kneipp pillars contributes to pain relief and the strengthening of the spiritual and mental balance.
