The hike leads from the parking lot back to the Hamberg farm and on Alpine Club Trail 467 past Sonnkogel on an almost level forest road to the summit of the Hohe Dirn (1,134 m), then continues to the Anton Schosser Hut and back to the starting point.

Directions:The hike starts from the first parking lot (opposite the Hohe Dirn settlement) back on the road to the Hamberg farm, from where trail 467 leads up towards Hohe Dirn, past Sonnkogel on an almost flat forest road to the summit of Hohe Dirn (1,134 m). Then follow the forest path to the Anton Schosser Hut, from where the circular route returns via Almboden and forest road back to the parking lot.

Welcome to the Anton Schosserhütte!
Dear mountain enthusiasts, hikers, and nature lovers! The Anton Schosserhütte was built in 1925 as a ski lodge and is located in the heart of the Upper Austrian Pre-Alps, on the edge of the Kalkalpen National Park at 1,158 meters above sea level
This Category I mountain hut has been managed by Claudia Breitenstein and Herbert Brem since June 2025; they’ll also take care of your culinary needs. Both cold and hot meals are available.
The A. Schosser Hut is a typical Pre-Alpine hut and is therefore open year-round.
See below for operating hours. However, drinks are always available in the shelter area outside of operating hours.

In addition to the access routes from the train stations in Losenstein (Trail No. 467), Reichraming (Trail No. 35 / Connection No. 30), and Trattenbach (Trail No. 32 / Connection No. 33) the hut can also be reached by mountain bike from Molln (Hausbach and via Mösern), from Trattenbach (via Wendbach), from Reichraming (via Geißhanslniedern and Mösern), and from Losenstein (Hohe Dirn road).
The surrounding hiking area also offers a variety of alpine activities, ranging from hikes (to the peaks of Hohe Dirn, Sonnkogel, and Schneeberg) to ski touring.
For quick stopovers or as a child-friendly hike, the approach can be significantly shortened by taking the access road to the paid parking lots (https://www.steyr-nationalpark.at/aktivitaeten/sommer/wandern/gebuehrenparkplaetze.html) from Losenstein via the Hohe Dirn Road.
Please notify the lodge operators of your overnight stays in advance by phone or email. For stays with dogs, please be sure to check with the lodge operators beforehand.

The Ennstalbahn runs between Linz and Weißenbach-St. Gallen.

Parking
The parking lots at Hohe Dirn require a fee!
Parking from the Weiderost area at the transformer station is only allowed in parking lots B and D.

- Free of charge from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
