3-day hiking tour on the horse-drawn railroad hiking trail

But you don't have to walk the Way of St. James to escape the daily grind and find yourself. Small breaks are often enough to switch off for a few days and recharge your batteries in nature.

And hardly any other landscape is better suited to a project of this kind than the rustic hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel. Between the southern Bohemian town of Budweis, the forests of the Czech-Austrian borderland, ancient granite formations in the north, picturesque, gentle hills and wildly romantic streams and rivers that flow into the Danube and point towards the cultural (capital) city of Linz - this is exactly where Europe's first public railroad was opened almost 200 years ago - the horse-drawn railroad.
And today, one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the country - the Horse Railway Hiking Trail - stretches along the old routes on which the lords of the Habsburg Empire traveled back then.

On our hiking tour "In the footsteps of the Emperor between Budweis and Linz", we take you on a journey back in time to the 19th century.
