For a hundred years, the organic cheese dairy Schlierbach has devoted its full attention to cheese and its production.

Visit the newly renovated Cistercian monastery Schlierbach and discover many baroque monastery rooms as well as the magnificent abbey church. The entire building is now used in various ways.

Visiting the abbey church:
Summer months: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Winter months: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Opening hours of the gate:

Monday - Thursday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Closed on Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays

A religious community lives and works here, trying to practice the calling of monastic life. Students from the high school bring the many rooms to life, the scent of cheese permeates the house, artists and craftsmen meet in the stained glass studio, and many visitors marvel at this colorful house.

A tour of the Stift Schlierbach is a journey of discovery into a spiritual world whose power and fascination is still alive today. Baroque splendor from the glorious monastery church to the abbey library with its 12,000 valuable books. Tasting of 10 Schlierbach organic cheese specialties and a visit to the stained glass studio.

Since 1999, bio cheese specialties have also been produced in the Abbey Cheese Dairy.
The Panorama Café & Lounge has been designed to create a complementary contrast to the historically significant architecture of the baroque abbey. The transparent building appears inviting and friendly to visitors. It serves as a meeting area, houses a monastery shop, and provides space for exhibitions and seminars.
The Schlierbach cheese dairy was founded in 1924, with its first product being the Schlierbacher Schlosskäse. This finely spiced soft cheese with red culture is still one of the most important products of the organic cheese dairy.
Program:

During the tour, we will show you the abbey premises, such as the Bernardisaal, the library, the cloister with the Schlierbach Madonna, the stained glass gallery with a subsequent cheese tasting.
Furthermore, we offer our guests cheese-wine tastings under the expert guidance of a cheese-wine sommelier.



by car:
From Salzburg, Passau, or Vienna via the Westautobahn (A1) to the Voralpenkreuz exit, then continue on the Pyhrnautobahn (A9) to the Inzersdorf exit, proceed on B 138 towards Kirchdorf until the turn-off to Schlierbach.
Coming from Graz, use the Pyhrnautobahn (A9) to the Klaus a/d Pyhrnbahn exit, then continue on B 138, take a right turn to Schlierbach after Kirchdorf. After about 2.5 km, turn right to Schlierbach, 1 km to the town center.
