Today, the castle houses the Princely Starhemberg Family Museum and the Museum of the City of Eferding. Both museums surprise with highly interesting exhibits. The museum is open from 1 May to 1 October.

Once the largest castle complex in Upper Austria. Unfortunately, part of the keep collapsed in 1825, but a viewing platform can be reached via 186 steps, from where you have a magnificent view of the Eferding Basin, the Mühlviertel and the Danube.

The Schlögener Donauschlinge is a natural wonder of a special kind. The best view of the place where the Danube makes a 180° turn is to be had on a hike up to the Schlögener Blick viewpoint.
