Via ferrata with view
The Schöberl is the climbing exercise and training mountain of the nearby Simony Hut. Three very short fixed rope routes also run on this rocky mountain.
The "Via Steinbock" runs through the east wall of the Schöberl. From the entrance, the route first climbs up a ramp (A to B), continues over slabs (B/C to C) followed by another ramp (A to B). Afterwards, cross to the right and continue over rock steps, becoming lighter and lighter, to the summit (B/C, finally A).
On the way you have a nice view of the Hallstatt glacier. From the summit you descend either via the Migma via ferrata (A/B) or the Moni via ferrata, which is more difficult (B/C and 1+).
The Simony Hut and the nearby Schöberl can be reached in about 3 hours from the mountain station of the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car.
