The Kammerspiele was built according to plans by Prof. Clemens Holzmeister and opened with Franz Werfel's "Paulus unter den Juden" on 28 September 1957.
In addition to classical drama, the Kammerspiele is also home to the Young Theater with many plays. Various guest performances also take place, as well as performances of plays by the Upper Austrian Amateur Theater Association.
