Gosau at Dachstein

Gosau, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Gosau am Dachstein, der kleine aber malerische Ort am südlichsten Punkt von Oberösterreich, liegt gut eingebettet in der Ferienregion Dachstein Salzkammergut.

The ski area Dachstein West

What proves to be a wonderful hiking paradise in summer, is in winter the largest ski area in Upper Austria - Dachstein West. The ski region Dachstein West includes the 3 villages Gosau am Dachstein, Russbach and Annaberg. The Gosau part of the ski region Dachstein West includes the Hornspitz including Fredyland and the somewhat more demanding Zwieselalm. There is something for everyone on the 142 fantastically groomed kilometres of pistes.

For families with children, the Dachstein West ski region has long been one of the best places in the Alps. The magic carpet, Brumsiland and first swings ensure happy faces among the kids, while parents enjoy relaxing hours carving and taking a break.

Fun & romance in the snow

But Gosau does not only offer unique skiing pleasure, other winter sports activities such as cross-country skiing (65 km of cross-country trails), tobogganing, curling, snowshoeing, ski touring or leisurely winter hiking are also very popular and enthusiastic.

In a very special way you can experience Gosau at Dachstein with a horse-drawn sleigh. Wrapped in warming blankets, you will be pulled through the beautiful, snowy winter wonderland on a sleigh by two snorting horses. A ride through Gosau on a horse-drawn sleigh is so beautiful and romantic. As a special highlight, night-time horse-drawn sleigh rides are also offered. Time seems to stand still when you ride along the Gosaubach (stream) under the clear, deep black starry sky and only the crunch of the snow and the ringing bells of the horses can be heard.

All this and much more belongs to a stress-free and unforgettable holiday, as you can experience it in Gosau at Dachstein. For more information please visit www.gosau.salzkammergut.at.
