The crime fiction reading with Joesi Prokopetz is a joint event organized by the AKKU Cultural Center and the Marlen Haushofer City Library.
When Joesi Prokopetz learned in 1974 about the 100th anniversary of the Vienna Central Cemetery, he wrote the lyrics to the song “Es lebe der Zentralfriedhof” (“Long Live the Central Cemetery”), which Wolfgang Ambros turned into a cult hit. Following his successful crime comedies “Hofer” and “Die Blume aus dem Gemeindebau,” Prokopetz now returns once again to the 1970s and, in “Es lebe der Zentralfriedhof,” tells the story of clumsy police officers, mysterious occultists, and aimless hippies. A lighthearted slice of contemporary history in the form of a crime novel, written by one of the country’s most original and witty voices.
The crime fiction reading with Joesi Prokopetz will take place as part of the “Krimivember” festival.
The venue is the Alte Theater Steyr ( 4400 Steyr, Handel-Mazzetti-Promenade 3). The event is organized by the AKKU Cultural Center, the Steyr Cultural Office, the Marlen Haushofer City Library, and a project group from HLW Steyr.
