Schwertberg, Marktplatz Schwertberg
Ausstellung, Thematische Ausstellung

This exhibition focuses on the historic railroad line between St. Valentin, Mauthausen, and Gaisbach, which opened in 1872 as part of the planned main rail line of the monarchy toward Trieste.

An exciting journey into the past awaits visitors at the special exhibition “The Forgotten Railroad” at the Schwertberg Municipal Office. The focus is on the historic St. Valentin–Mauthausen–Gaisbach railroad line, which opened in 1872 as part of the planned main rail connection of the monarchy toward Trieste. The line was finally decommissioned in 1956.

Unique Exhibits
Numerous historical photographs, a large map of the entire route, original railroad artifacts, as well as interesting stories and documents provide insights into the history and former operations of the railroad.

The exhibition was curated by the Reoda Ried Cultural Association in the Riedmark region with great attention to detail.

The exhibition can be viewed from November 8 to 23, 2026, during the opening hours of the Schwertberg Municipal Office. Admission is free!
