"Waldauf3"
New Folk Music
Music is in the air – it's undeniable that the three Tyroleans come from a musical family.
The two violinists Magdalena and Laura-Maria quickly took their cousin Matthias and his harmonica and formed a congenial trio from the large family music. Waldauf3. The three do not only perform in the most diverse combinations across various genres, but they also sing along.
And all of this with a buoyant lightness, making it a true joy to listen to them.
The stars of Franz Posch's cult show for the first time in Upper Austria.

In 2015, the idea for a 3rd formation of the Waldauf family music arose. Inspired by the joy of making music from their parental generation, the sisters Laura-Maria and Magdalena along with their cousin Matthias Waldauf perform in various formations. Firmly rooted in alpine tradition, their repertoire is enriched by cross-border influences in folk music like Herbert Pixner, Alma, Netnakisum, etc. Their alpine roots blend with new sounds of folk music and various musical directions.
Highlights included concerts in the Hofburg Vienna and the Ball Saal Vienna on behalf of the Austrian federal government, as well as performances at cultural festivals like “Stummer Schrei” and the “Loawänd” Festival. In 2018, they were selected for a commissioned composition: the world premiere of “Metsäpäällä” for orchestra and Waldauf3 instrumental and vocal ensemble by Tyrolean composer Michael F.P. Huber with the “Tiroler Kammerorchester InnStrumenti”. ORF live appearances (“Guten Morgen Österreich”) and ORF radio broadcasts (concert recordings from ORF Landesstudio Tirol) made them known to a wide audience. In 2016, they received an award at the “Alpenländischer Volksmusikwettbewerb” and in 2018 they were presented a special prize at the federal level at “Prima la Musica” with an invitation to perform in Erlangen. Their first CD was released in 2021.
