Wiener Music

A reunion/listening with the great crowd favorite of the Linz Landestheater, Günter Rainer, who delighted his fans there from 1968 to 2007. He has had a friendship with the head of the ensemble, Peter Gillmayr, since the 1980s, which led to many celebrated performances with the then Schrammel Quartet, where Günter Rainer was also able to showcase his singing abilities. This reunion will prove that he has lost none of his great comedic talents, even in advanced age.

:::Own production of the Musiksommer Bad Schallerbach:::

Günter Rainer: recitation, singing
Peter Gillmayr: 1st violin
Kathrin Lenzenweger: 2nd violin
Andrej Serkov: Schrammel harmonica

Music and humorous literature from Vienna

Günter Rainer
Rainer began his stage career in 1961 in Klagenfurt and Salzburg. In 1973, he moved to the Theater am Neumarkt in Zurich, then directed by Horst Zankl. After further commitments to the Hamburg Schauspielhaus, the Landestheater Innsbruck, where he also served as head of the youth department, or the Ateliertheater in Bern, where he directed, Rainer came to the Landestheater Linz in 1986, where he remained until 2007. Since then, he has been working as a freelancer, still performing on stage in Linz but also guesting at venues such as the Hamburg Ernst-Deutsch-Theater or the Theater an der Rott. His roles include several Nestroy characters like Titus Feuerfuchs from Talisman, the Knieriem in Lumpazivagabundus, or the Gluthammer in Zerrissenen. Rainer also played the title role in Peer Gynt and Shakespeare's König Lear, Mackie Messer in Brecht's Dreigroschenoper, as well as Horace Vandergelder in the musical Hello, Dolly! or the Frosch in the Fledermaus.

OÖ. Concert Schrammeln
Since 1996, the old Viennese Schrammel music has been celebrated, ensuring that a unique piece of Austrian music history does not fall into oblivion. Together with artists like Erwin Steinhauer, Barbara Wussow, Fritz Karl, or Agnes Palmisano, they carry the charm and sentimental melodies of the Schrammel brothers, Mikulas, and also those of Schubert, Strauss, Ziehrer, as well as adaptations from the K & K Austria throughout the entire German-speaking area.
