We all know what heavy.force is – but "how does lightness work"?
Sprezzatura, a term from the Italian Renaissance, describes an attitude, a way of life, a manner of presentation: No matter how strenuous, artful, difficult – everything should appear effortless! This ease displayed in all areas of life lends elegance, nonchalance, and sublimity, and is manifested in music, for example, through virtuosic passages and diminutions.
Heavy may sometimes seem like music from a long-gone time or from outside our habits. Light is, however, to let oneself be carried away by it.
Uncompromising is the music – effortless we want to make it appear – detached from everything is the feeling it evokes.
Let us float. Light. Light.
Works include: Antonio de Cabezón, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Vittoria Aleotti, Kevin Volans, and Alyssa Aska.
The diversity of the instrument family and the blending of these in the consort represents the crowning ("Prime", English for peak and crowning) of making music for the five musicians. A connecting element, besides the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, where all the musicians met, is the passionate love for the "flauto dolce".
