The Spider Murphy Gang has been a fixture on stages across Germany since 1977, and it’s precisely there that you can see why this band continues to enjoy unbroken cult status. When Günther Sigl, Barney Murphy, and their bandmates get going, every venue turns into a rock ’n’ roll club with driving guitars, a rolling boogie piano, and a joy of playing that’s instantly contagious.

Emerging from the Munich scene, the Gang began their triumphant run with songs like “Sommer in der Stadt,” “Schickeria,” and, of course, “Skandal im Sperrbezirk.” Hits that have long since become part of the collective musical heritage and are sung along to by thousands of voices at every concert.

Despite gold and platinum records, sold-out venues, and international success, the band has always remained what it was from the very beginning: an authentic live band that captivates and consistently delivers a spectacular rock ’n’ roll show. Whether performing unplugged or as a well-rehearsed rock band, frontman Günther Sigl is as authentic as ever and entertains the crowd with witty anecdotes. The affectionate banter between Spiders veterans Günther and Barney has, of course, also become a cult classic. The two engage in a verbal ping-pong match on stage that’s guaranteed to have everyone in stitches.
