The music of Quadro Nuevo radiates the joy of an adventurous life. Each melody tells a story. Each note conveys a deep love for the instrument. Each journey shapes the extravagant artistry of the ensemble.
In Buenos Aires, they spent tango nights dancing. On the Greek islands, the virtuosos found the magnetic song Erotiko. Then they sailed through the Aegean, climbed lava-spewing volcanoes in Iceland, and finally immersed themselves in Brazil with samba, bossa, and chorinho.

Music that makes you happy!

The childhood friends Mulo Francel and Didi Lowka founded the ensemble Quadro Nuevo in 1996. Since then, the adventurous artists have traveled countless places from Helsinki to Hong Kong, from the Caucasus to Carnegie Hall in New York. 

Through their daring playing style, they have won the ECHO twice, a gold record, the German Record Critics' Prize, and several jazz awards.

With the extravagant and playful accordionist Andreas Hinterseher and the brilliantly imaginative pianist Chris Gall, they bring their music to life in the here and now. This reminds one of four boys happily playing music in southern town squares and fairs. This was the case in the early days of Quadro Nuevo.

Later, they spent time in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, rehearsing for days in the sweltering midday heat, going out in the evenings, diving headfirst into the scene, accompanying dancers, and indulging in heavy wine, caipirinhas, and fresh Brazilian music straight from the source.

Out came the new album HAPPY Deluxe.

From here, the virtuosos venture into improvisational new territory, sometimes soaring through buzzing skies, sometimes diving into sparkling Mediterranean seas, sometimes chillily spinning in daydreams and night wanderings. 

Quadro Nuevo explains this sonic homage to moments of happiness: 

“Our music has always emerged from experiences and encounters. The joy and friendliness of many people in Brazil fascinated us. It colored our songs. 

Thus, the title of the album was also created. We are well aware that the everyday life of many people is anything but carefree. Nevertheless – or precisely because of this – music should also offer a positive counterworld even in times of crises and wars.”
