Digital City Studio - Cybersecurity in Everyday Life

04.11.2026 / 18:00- 20:00
Linz, Digital City Studio
Vorträge

with IT:U Professor Johanna Ullrich at the Digital City Studio

The perfectly faked reality. From deceptively realistic voice clones used in the “grandchild scam” to manipulated systems: Artificial intelligence makes it easier than ever for criminals to launch targeted attacks on our critical communication channels.

But how do these methods actually work from a technical standpoint, how can we protect ourselves, and where does IT security research come into play?

In a relaxed atmosphere, we’ll explore current developments, opportunities, and challenges surrounding cybersecurity, digital deception, and resilience in everyday life.

The evening will critically examine how technical developments fit into social and digital contexts. After a 30-minute research presentation by Prof. Johanna Ullrich, we’ll kick off a brief, spontaneous discussion with your neighbors about personal experiences to pinpoint the most pressing questions for the subsequent “Ask the Researcher” session.

Afterward, there will be an opportunity for informal conversation. In addition, you’ll be able to try out various digital technologies, such as VR headsets, a robot dog, or the AR sandbox.
