Austria 2026 / 118 minutes – Director: Erwin Wagenhofer – Screenplay: Sabine Kriechbaum, Erwin Wagenhofer – Cinematography: Erwin Wagenhofer – Editing: Erwin Wagenhofer, Julia Drack, Paul Sedlacek – Starring: Maria Giménez, Ernst Götsch, Marc Leiber, Anna Heringer, Martin Rauch, Lord Zigato, Alain Maury – Original version with German subtitles

“The atmosphere that protectively envelops our planet is the foundation of our lives. It not only provides us with air, water, and food, but also defines us—in the dual meaning of the word—as social beings. Just as we need air to breathe, we need a protective atmosphere of togetherness to survive.

Erwin Wagenhofer is well aware of the problems of our crisis-ridden present, and in his new film *ATMOSPHERE*, he does not ignore their causes. Rather, he is interested in how we can solve them. To that end, he introduces us to people who have left the past behind and dared to try something new: from an artist from Berlin-Brandenburg who became a farmer and transformed depleted fields into a flourishing landscape, to a team of leading earthen construction experts who are transforming the traditional material earth into a building material of the future, and to a visionary Swiss researcher and agronomist who, with his newly reforested rainforest, has breathed new life not just into a patch of barren land, but into an entire region.

Rating: “Valuable” – Positive recommendation: “Recommended as a documentary for ages 14 and up”

ATMOSPHERE shows us people who have stepped away from the profit-driven mindset and, in doing so, have transformed both their environment and themselves. They have restored a damaged natural world to new vitality and replaced competition with cooperation.”

ATMOSPHERE is a film that inspires hope and nurtures the confidence that we can turn our lives around for the better. We just have to stop running in the wrong direction.
