A nonverbal contemporary circus performance

BEING mOTHER is a nonverbal contemporary circus piece about the (im)possible balancing act between parenthood and everyday life as an artist. Breastfeeding, changing diapers, and caring for a child come into conflict with artistic work. Personal turmoil, anger, and joy over this new life are compounded by the opinions of the outside world. Is it selfish to want to continue making art?

The piece is told through the body, sound, and live music.
