Water—a theme in cultural projects, in people’s daily lives, and in music
This multifaceted event, organized by the Pfahlbau am Attersee Association, explores the element of water from cultural-historical, archaeological, and musical perspectives.
An archaeologist will illustrate the vital importance of water for the Neolithic and Bronze Age pile-dwelling settlements and present faithful replicas of devices and tools from this era. Musically, a band will take the audience on a journey through various centuries and genres—from classical music and operetta highlights such as “The Moldau” and “The Blue Danube” to modern classics like “Sailing” and “Smoke on the Water.” During moderated quiz rounds under the theme “Can You Recognize the Melody?”, the audience is also invited to join in the guessing game.
A special highlight of the day is the traditional underwater placement of replica dugout canoes by the Pfahlbauverein, a method designed to protect and permanently preserve these prehistoric boat types in the lake.
