Immerse yourself in the fascinating history and culture of Steyr
Here, history comes to life: A public guided tour at the City Museum takes visitors through over 1,000 years of Steyr’s history. The exhibition takes visitors on a journey into 19th-century civic life, introduces influential figures, and tells moving life stories—from Josef Werndl and Anton Bruckner to Marianne Kautsch and Dora Dunkl.
Accompanied by a cultural guide, visitors discover the unique features of the collection. The exhibition presents selected objects from various fields—including artistically crafted guild chests, historical furniture from the Haller family of Lebzel bakers, and extraordinary collection items such as a mammoth tooth or knives from around the world. The tour focuses on the individual exhibits and their stories. In addition, visitors learn more about the museum’s origins and its development up to the present day. Following the guided tour, visitors can explore the museum on their own.
