Between Armenian mysticism and a journey through European folk songs: The Naghash Ensemble creates hypnotic soundscapes, while Trio Südbahnhof brings touching traditions to life with songs ranging from northern Germany to Hungary.
The Naghash Ensemble blends the deep-rooted spirituality of Armenian folk and sacred music with new classical, post-minimalism, and the energy of jazz and rock. Inspired by mystical medieval texts about life in exile, three classical singers and four virtuoso instrumentalists playing the duduk, oud, dhol, and grand piano create new, hypnotic soundscapes.
The Trio Südbahnhof is dedicated to the fascinating and moving world of folk songs. Their repertoire is not limited to Austrian folk songs but takes listeners on a journey through folk music. From Low German songs of Germany’s far north, southward through Bavaria to Austrian pieces blending dialect, Gstanzl, yodeling, and Carinthian folk songs, the journey continues all the way to Hungary and culminates in the lively, passionate sounds of Hungarian song tradition.
