After more than 50 years, the Russian piano giant is finally returning to Linz and making its long-awaited debut at the Brucknerhaus.

His last performance in Linz took place more than 50 years ago: When Grigory Sokolov made his debut in 1973 at the Diesterweg School’s gymnasium—which was still being used as a concert hall at the time—the Brucknerhaus had not yet opened. This makes it all the more extraordinary to finally be able to welcome this exceptional artist—who is, for good reason, considered one of the greatest pianists of our time—to the Great Hall! Sokolov is known for announcing his programs (including several encores) only shortly before the concert. We can look forward to the final selection of pieces—but we can already anticipate a magical moment in piano music that is sure to be one of the musical highlights of the 2026–27 season!
