A tribute to a great musician and pioneer.

Thanks to Rupert Frieberger, the abbey’s music scene experienced a major resurgence over the course of 40 years, and the abbey became a center for music in the wider region. International musicians returned time and again to the Mühlviertel. We wish to honor his memory with the “Missa Plagensis,” composed for Schlägl; excerpts from his organ works; and one of his magnificent chamber music miniatures, which he wrote to accompany Stifter’s “Bunte Steine.”
