When the peloton winds its way through the narrow streets of Steyr’s Old Town on Saturday, August 8, 2026, one thing is guaranteed: action from the first race to the last. The 28th International ASVÖ Hrinkow City Criterium, powered by Raiffeisen, combines top-level sports, support for young talent, and the unique charm of the old town into a cycling festival for the whole family.

As early as the afternoon, those who will shape the future of cycling take center stage. The children’s and junior races have long been more than just a supporting program—they form the heart of the event. For many, it’s their first major appearance in front of an audience; for others, it’s already the next step on the path to competitive sports. The junior races gain added excitement because they count toward the Super Cup of the Upper Austrian Cycling Association. The races will feature a correspondingly strong field when the state’s best young riders compete in Steyr.

In the evening, the spotlight shifts to the elite riders. On the challenging circuit, there’s barely time to catch your breath: tight turns, cobblestones, a grueling climb, and high speeds demand everything from the athletes. Every attack and every surge in pace right before the spectators’ eyes creates a thrilling atmosphere—that’s exactly what makes a downtown criterium so special. The national and international elite will start the race at 6:15 p.m. and tackle Steyr’s toughest kilometer 60 times.
