ALOM – Haslach Manufacturing: Operations Management

Manufaktur Haslach is a social enterprise that has been processing regional sheep’s wool into high-quality felt products, boiled-wool shoes, bedding, and rugs since 1990. The goal is to ensure a reliable market for the region’s sheep farmers to sell their wool and to carry on Haslach’s long tradition of textile production.

The products are primarily manufactured in small batches using wool from Mühlviertel Merino sheep and other Central European breeds. The company’s in-house wool washing, carding, hammer-milling, sewing, and weaving facilities enable a largely seamless and transparent production chain.
In addition, the manufactory fulfills an important social mission: Twelve people are provided with subsidized jobs here, along with individualized support and continuing education. The organization behind this is ALOM—Working and Learning in the Upper Mühlviertel.

Housed in the historic factory complex of the Textile Center Haslach, visitors can take guided tours to learn about the journey of the wool from raw material to finished, high-quality product.
