This summer vacation, the Zoo Schmiding will offer a truly special experience. With two new vacation programs, children and families can not only observe animals but also become active themselves. While young animal lovers get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the zoo and step into the role of a zoo keeper, an exciting puzzle adventure awaits little and big explorers in the Aquazoo.

What does a zoo keeper's day look like before the first visitors enter the zoo? This is exactly what children can experience themselves during the summer vacation at Zoo Schmiding. The new vacation program starts as early as 8:00 a.m., before the regular opening hours. Together with an experienced zoo keeper, participants take on real tasks from the daily life of the zoo and gain exclusive insights into areas that are usually hidden from visitors. Depending on the chosen program, the children accompany the zoo keepers to the giraffes, white rhinoceroses, or the petting zoo. They help prepare the enclosures, assist with daily tasks, and experience up close how the animals go outside in the morning. They will also get a close look at the two young animals, giraffe bull Moyo and white rhinoceros Nuru, who were born just a few months ago. Furthermore, the children will gain exciting insights into the daily work with tapirs and the animals in the petting zoo.

Throughout the program, the zoo keepers share information about animal care, nutrition, behavior, and species protection. Participants will experience firsthand how diverse, responsible, and exciting the daily life of a zoo keeper truly is.

Explorer adventure in the Aquazoo

Also in the Aquazoo, visitors will find an exciting novelty during the summer vacation. In cooperation with STABILO, an interactive adventure has been developed that transforms the Aquazoo into an exciting research path. Equipped with a research booklet, children and families set out to search for clues, solve tricky tasks, and get to know the fascinating inhabitants of the Aquazoo better. They will need to use observation skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities to gradually solve all the puzzles and find the correct solution code. At the end, successful young researchers will receive a small surprise.

The new adventure combines play, knowledge, and a spirit of discovery, making the visit to the Aquazoo an exciting experience for the whole family.

Whether during the morning zoo routine or on an exciting exploration trip through the Aquazoo – participants experience animals from a completely new perspective and learn a lot about their needs, their way of life, and species protection,” says Zoo Director DDr. Andreas Artmann.
