This summer vacation will be a truly special experience at Zoo Schmiding. With two new holiday programs, children and families can not only observe animals but also actively engage with them. While young animal lovers get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the zoo and step into the role of a zoo keeper, an exciting puzzle adventure awaits small and large explorers at the Aquazoo.

What does a zoo keeper's day look like before the first visitors enter the zoo? Children can experience just that during the summer holidays at Zoo Schmiding. The new holiday program starts at 8:00 a.m., even before regular opening hours. Together with an experienced zoo keeper, participants take on real tasks from zoo life and gain exclusive insights into areas that are usually hidden from visitors. Depending on the chosen program, children accompany the zoo keepers to the giraffes, white rhinos, or the petting zoo. They help prepare the enclosures, assist with daily tasks, and experience firsthand how the animals go out to their outdoor spaces each morning. They will also get up close and personal with the two young animals born just a few months ago, giraffe bull Moyo and white rhino Nuru. Additionally, the children get exciting insights into the daily work with tapirs and the animals in the petting zoo.

Throughout the program, the zoo keepers share interesting information about animal care, nutrition, behavior, and species protection. Participants experience firsthand how diverse, responsible, and exciting the everyday life of a zoo keeper truly is.

Research adventure at the Aquazoo

An exciting new offering also awaits visitors at the Aquazoo during the summer holidays. In cooperation with STABILO, an interactive adventure has been developed that transforms the Aquazoo into an exciting research path. Equipped with a research booklet, children and families set out to search for clues, solve tricky tasks, and learn more about the fascinating residents of the Aquazoo. They need to use their observational skills, teamwork, and ability to combine information to solve all the puzzles step by step and find the correct solution code. At the end, a small surprise awaits successful young researchers.

The new adventure combines play, knowledge, and a spirit of discovery, making a visit to the Aquazoo an exciting experience for the whole family.
