Feature film - This is the true story of the young Scotsman John Davidson, who suffers from Tourette's syndrome.

It tells the true story of the young Scotsman John Davidson, who suffers from Tourette's syndrome. In the early 1980s, the conspicuous behaviour is not recognized as an illness. For John, life becomes one big gauntlet. Until he finds a saving angel in a friend's mother. Instead of sentimentality, truthfulness and
and subtle British humor dominate this excellently acted, very moving
moving piece of enlightenment.

Nobody would have expected the Queen to award the Order of the British Empire to an uncontrollable "problem child", least of all John Davidson himself. John (Scott Ellis Watson) grows up in a small Scottish town in the early 1980s. At the age of 12, he begins to suffer from severe nervous tics. Diagnosed years later as Tourette's syndrome, his life becomes an endless gauntlet.

In his mid-20s, John (Robert Aramayo) still lives with his mother (Shirley Henderson). The side effects of the strong medication he is dependent on almost rob him of all courage to face life, when a chance encounter with his school friend Murray and his mother Dottie (Maxine Peake) finally turns things around. Dottie is a nurse and accepts John for who he is. She takes him into her family and even finds him a job as assistant to the community center janitor Tommy (Peter Mullan). A hilarious job interview, in which Tommy reacts to John's tics like no other, lays the foundation for an intimate friendship. Slowly, John finds the courage and confidence to lead a self-determined life and realizes how valuable his experiences are to others.
