US-American Lilian Steiner has called Paris her home for years. Not only has she put down roots there, she has also built up a very good reputation as a skilled psychotherapist. But then her patient Paula dies. According to the police, it was suicide and this throws Lilian off course. But she has doubts about the official version of Paula's death. So the therapist begins to investigate on her own - together with her ex-husband Gabriel, who is still mourning her death. And it soon becomes clear that the case is not as clear-cut as the police would have you believe.
