Vernissage Sonja Girlinger and Josef Eibl

As part of the planning for the commemorative year “400 Years of the Upper Austrian Peasants’ War,” the idea arose—as a way to make use of the vacant space—to repurpose the building at Falkensteinstraße 10 as an “art center.”

For the autodidact Josef Eibl (born 1957, lives in Niederkappel), every picture holds a secret that is inexpressible and therefore needs a picture. What can be seen in the picture is the meaning, and that is the challenge for those who see it. For the "Courage for Peace" project, Josef Eibl painted the villages of Lembach in very reduced forms with acrylic paints on wooden panels.

A project of communale oö. 2026 in cooperation with the Literaturschiff. The literature ship stands for literature in motion - a unique initiative that uses the power of words to build bridges and connect people.

Laura Freudenthaler (born 1984 in Salzburg, lives in Vienna) made her debut in 2014 with "Der Schädel von Madeleine". Her novel "Die Königin schweigt" (2017; tr: The Queen is Silent) won the Bremen Literature Prize, and in 2018 it was named best German-language debut novel at the "Festival du premier Roman" in Chambéry. For "Geistergeschichte" (2019), her second novel, she received the European Union Prize for Literature. In 2020, she won the 3sat Prize at the Tage der deutschsprachigen Literatur in Klagenfurt for her text "Der heißeste Sommer", and in 2024 she received the Anton Wildgans Prize. Most recently published by Jung und Jung: "Arson" (2023). In 2019, Laura Freudenthaler received the European Union Prize for Literature.
What does it mean for a woman that experiences are inscribed in our bodies, across generations and centuries? How do we ourselves contribute to a history in which violence is perpetuated? And how do we escape it? Laura Freudenthaler's major new novel tells the story.

David Eibl studied percussion at the Bruckner University in Linz. He currently plays with Tobias Pötzelsberger's band and with the "Blonden Engel". He also produces drum accompaniments for various songs.

Julia Eibl studied piano at the University of Music in Vienna. She currently works as a freelance lyricist and singer.
