Next stop: Hallstatt station. Encounters with striking women.

The Hallstatt World Heritage train station is spectacularly situated on the lakeshore opposite the village and can only be reached by boat, on foot or by train. Nestled between rock and water, it is a special place of arrival and transition on the Attnang-Puchheim-Stainach-Irdning line.

Women in focus: Stories at Hallstatt station - readings, talks and encounters

The biographies on display originate from previous Capital of Culture exhibitions and have been newly compiled and supplemented by the social scientist Elizabeth Baum-Breuer and "Aufbruch, Salzkammergut! They condense the region's female cultural heritage and are also a contribution to the idea of a future Salzkammergut Women's Museum in Bad Ischl.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of readings: Elizabeth Baum-Breuer opens the exhibition at the vernissage, Nina Höllinger from the Zeitgeschichte Museum Ebensee reads on the first Sunday, Marie-Theres Arnbom reads on the second weekend, and Christian Hoffmann organizes the finissage. The focus is on selected women's biographies related to the Salzkammergut, which are located between history, everyday life and memory and open up new perspectives on the region.
