Linda Luse: Dry Pastures

Under the title Dry Pastures, Linda Luse uses ceramic objects to examine the diminishing resilience of soils as a symbol of ecological fragility.

The works refer to overexploitation, erosion and desiccation and show traces of decomposition, compaction and human intervention. Material and form play with illusion: a soft-looking drapery meets antler-like branching; clay from excavation ties the works to the soil, bone ash glaze to agricultural practices. Through the exhibition, a picture of geological conditions unfolds in which the soil becomes legible as the fundamental basis of life and its vulnerability quietly shines through in texture and form.
