W. A. Mozart / Missa brevis in D major KV 194 for solos, choir, orchestra, and organ
Mozart composed this mass at the age of 18 as a court musician in Salzburg for the Salzburg Cathedral. It is a Missa brevis, as the composition had to meet the liturgical requirements of Archbishop Colloredo - it could not exceed 20 minutes. The mass impresses with fresh, catchy melodies, a varied alternation of choral and solo parts, and the use of three trombones, which – as was customary in Salzburg at the time – double the alto, tenor, and bass voices of the choir, creating a particularly festive sound.
With the soloists: Judith Ramerstorfer (soprano) Silke Kiener (alto) Michael Schmidbauer (tenor) Reinhard Mayr (bass) Ulrike Koblmüller (conductor) Karl Kasbauer (organ)
Admission: voluntary donations Organizer: City Parish Choir Grieskirchen
