Johanna Dumfart: diatonic harmonica; Philipp Lakinger: diatonic harmonica; Marcel Mölschl: diatonic harmonica; Fabian Danzl: diatonic harmonica
Four musicians - a harmonious quartet - and a common vision: to make music that connects, touches and creates new perspectives.
The diatonic harmonica has undergone an astonishing development in recent years. It has long since outgrown its folk music niche and found its place on major concert stages. Instrument makers and composers are constantly expanding its tonal spectrum, education is booming - even including university courses. And a new generation of young artists is impressively demonstrating how versatile, sophisticated and expressive this instrument can be.With Johanna Dumfart, Philipp Lakinger, Marcel Mölschl and Fabian Danzl, four formative personalities of this movement are on stage. Together they will show how the ziach is becoming a musical bridge builder - between folk and art music, between pub and concert hall, between origin and future.
The starting point of their program is composers with a biographical connection to the Salzkammergut, but the repertoire extends far beyond that: from piano pieces to choral movements, works from the baroque, classical, romantic and late romantic periods are performed - in newly conceived arrangements, interpreted exclusively on the diatonic harmonica.
The focus is not on folk music, but on a conscious exploration of the classical music tradition - sensitively transferred to an instrument to which this world has long been closed.
"Klassik trifft Harmonika" follows on from the successful programs Franz, Johannes and Wurzeln, which have been a hit both in the concert hall and on television - and takes this idea further: to present classical music in a surprising sound form, approachable, lively and full of heart.
