Correspondence between W.A. Mozart and his father Leopold

After its overwhelming success in the 2025 Festival Week Summer, this program returns due to enormous demand: audience favourite Fritz Karl, born in 1965 on Lake Traunsee and long one of the most sought-after actors in the German-speaking world, appears on stage together with his son Aaron Karl for the first time in this program. They lend their voices to the famous correspondence between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his father Leopold in a haunting and touching way.

The letters tell of a relationship full of closeness, pride and affection, but also of strict expectations, dependence and painful conflicts. The dominant father fears his son's lifestyle, warns him drastically of a fate on the "straw bag" and reacts with growing distance to his marriage to Constanze Weber. The result is a picture of love and friction, of family ties and artistic self-assertion that is still moving today.

And yet this evening is not only profound, but also wonderfully entertaining: father and son Karl bring the texts to life again and again in surprisingly funny scenes - a lively play full of charm, wordplay and tongue-in-cheek lightness.

The musical framework is provided by the Sonare string quartet, which interprets works by Leopold and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Haydn with a fine sound culture. The program includes Mozart's Quartet in B flat major KV 458, the sparkling Alla Turca, arias from The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro, the famous Little Night Music and Haydn's cheerful Quartet in C major.

An evening that combines words and music, seriousness and cheerfulness, father and son in a unique way - moving, highly musical and full of unexpected lightness.
