47 Years of Art & Culture Raab - Simin Tander & Jens Düppe - Drops of Happiness (AFG, GER)

The German-Afghan singer and composer Simin Tander is one of the most exciting voices in contemporary jazz. With her delicate yet powerfully warm timbre, she creates a pull, a quiet intensity that is deeply moving. In English and Pashto/Afghaani, she creates soundscapes full of mysticism and passion. Her free-flowing vocal lines blend elegantly with the rhythms of her duo partner.

She is congenially accompanied by Jens Düppe, one of the most innovative representatives of improvised music. Düppe simultaneously plays drums, piano and electronic effects, which he combines in a unique way. The duo surprises with ever new sound constellations and hypnotic flow. The combination of mystical rhythms, virtuoso playing and Tander's expressive vocals creates an atmospheric density full of tension.
