On the trail of the secret of the unknown master

The Gothic winged altar in Kefermarkt is one of the most important and highest quality of its kind in terms of art history. Over the centuries, it has been repeatedly altered, reworked and in some cases extensively restored. Most recently, in September 2025, as part of the Interreg project Gothic Route Mühlviertel - South Bohemia (AT-CZ), a condition survey was carried out as well as conservation cleaning and safeguarding measures.

The new exhibition, which can be seen on the upper floor of the Stöckl until summer 2026, presents the monitoring measures and their results.

The exhibition is also a first part of the 550th anniversary year of the consecration of Kefermarkt parish church.
