Rakitina, Dohr & Bruckner Orchester Linz

Pathétique! No less than the greatest possible dramatic gesture is performed in the concert with which the Bruckner Orchestra Linz opens the cycle of major orchestras in the 26-27 season. With Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's eponymous 6th Symphony in B minor, one of the great works of music history is the focus of the program, which begins just as fatefully with the Sinfonia to Giuseppe Verdi's opera La forza del destino. Anna Rakitina, one of the most exciting conductors of the younger generation, who has enjoyed worldwide success in recent years from the New York Philharmonic to the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, will make her debut on the podium. She will be joined as soloist by Stefan Dohr, one of the leading horn players of our time: solo hornist with the Berliner Philharmoniker since 1993 and also in demand internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, Dohr will give the Austrian premiere of Icelandic-German composer Steingrímur Rohloff's Concerto for Horn and Orchestra, which dances between styles with great virtuosity and shimmers with luminous tonal colors, joining the illustrious ranks of composers who have written new works 'to suit' Dohr.
