T I L I A, GIS Orchestra, Binder&Krieglstein

11.04.2026 / 19:00
Linz, Kulturverein Schlot
Musikveranstaltung, Konzert

An evening between dreamy images and full force, where individual spontaneity meets contoured sound experience. Conducted improvisation, hidden messages, noise rock, experimental electronics, free jazz and downtempo beats merge into an unpredictable musical process.

T I L I A
T I L I A 's music raises questions about human existence. Anyone who is prepared to break through individual paradigms and to rekindle their own being by raising profound questions about life will be warmed to the core as they listen. Creative musical sound design in interaction with hidden messages in dreamy images. All with the lightness of a lime tree leaf gliding in the wind.

GIS Orchestra
The GIS Orchestra (Go for Improvised Sounds) works with the principle of conducted improvisation. A series of pre-arranged signals coordinate the interplay of a cast of around 20 musicians. The conductor is, as it were, the architect of the musical process, designing the ground plan, while the musicians shape the defined playing spaces at their own discretion. In this way, individual spontaneity and a contoured sound experience can be combined and mutually fueled - even in such a large formation.

The result of the interplay always remains unpredictable. Where Noiserock, experimental electronics and free jazz say goodnight to each other, the GIS Orchestra hits the alarm clock again. Sometimes dreamily, sometimes with full force. Gigi Gratt is responsible for the day-to-day organization of the orchestra; he launched the project - together with the Wels cultural association Waschaecht - in 2013. It is mainly Gratt who takes on the role of conductor. However, other orchestra members are also free to conduct pieces.

Binder & Krieglstein
Rainer Binder-Krieglstein is an Austrian musician from Graz who performs under the name Binder & Krieglstein, which ironically suggests that they are a duo. His musical oeuvre is influenced by jazz, funk, soul and pop and stylistically mostly represents a mixture of dub, electronic and folk, which are rendered in electronic downtempo beats and rhythms. His albums therefore always contain very different pieces of music, some of which also feature vocals, for which he collaborates with various singers. He also occasionally collaborates with other producers and DJs for the musical composition itself, which is usually done on the computer, influencing and enriching the musical result of an album accordingly.
